One Bright Star
When you see someone wearing the One Bright Star symbol, recognize and support them. You're not reminding them.
"If you know someone who has lost a child or lost anybody who's important to them, and you're afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. What you're reminding them of is that you remember that they lived, and that's a great, great gift.'"...Elizabeth Edwards

You Don't Have to Walk This Journey Alone 💙
The loss of a child changes everything. In the midst of grief, finding others who truly understand can be a powerful step toward healing.
One Bright Star is honored to sponsor bereaved mothers or couples for a Child Loss Retreat at Faith's Lodge in Wisconsin.
For eligible first-time attendees, we cover the full cost of the retreat, so financial concerns don't stand in the way of receiving support.
These retreats offer a peaceful, welcoming environment where grieving parents can connect with others who have experienced a similar loss. Guests enjoy private accommodations, shared meals, grief support, wellness activities, remembrance opportunities, and as much—or as little—connection as feels right for them. The retreats are designed to help families find strength, hope, and community while navigating life after loss.
Parents who have attended often describe the experience as life-changing, highlighting the comfort of being surrounded by people who "get it" and the meaningful connections formed during their stay.
If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a child and could benefit from this opportunity, please reach out to One Bright Star to learn more about our sponsorship program.

We are humbled by the incredible outpouring of support our community has shown following the recent vandalism at the One Bright Star Memorial. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, offered help, and shared words of encouragement.
While many of us feel hurt and frustrated by what happened, we are choosing to view this as an opportunity to educate young people in our community about the importance of this beautiful memorial and the families it serves. For many parents, it is a peaceful and safe place to honor and remember a child they have lost to death.
We ask for your help in sharing the purpose and meaning of the memorial with others. The One Bright Star Board of Directors is actively working on a plan to ensure this special place continues to be protected and cherished for all who visit.
Thank you for your patience, support, and love as we move forward. We are truly blessed to be part of such an amazing community.

It is with a heavy heart that we share some disappointing news regarding the One Bright Star Memorial.
Recently, our memorial was vandalized. A large landscaping rock was broken and thrown into the pond, and the memorial plaque damaged and also tossed into the pond. A police report has been filed, and video footage has been reviewed.
The One Bright Star Memorial was created as a place of remembrance, reflection, and healing for families who have experienced the loss of a child. It is a sacred space filled with love, memories, and meaning for so many in our community.
While this incident is disheartening, we remain committed to preserving this special place. We ask our community to help us protect and respect the memorial by talking with your children about its purpose and encouraging kindness and care when visiting.
If you visit the memorial and notice any concerning activity, please let us know. Together, we can ensure this space remains a peaceful place of comfort and remembrance for all who need it.
Thank you for your continued support of One Bright Star and the families we serve. ❤️

We are reminded on this Memorial Day to honor and remember all those who have fallen, so that we may enjoy the freedom that they so bravely fought and died for.

Today, we honor and celebrate all mothers—the love you give, the strength you carry, and the countless ways you nurture those around you.
On this special day, we hold space for the mothers whose hearts carry both love and loss—especially those with a child in heaven. Your motherhood is forever. Your love is eternal. Your child is always remembered.
Today and every day, we see you, we honor you, and we send you love.
