Dr. Johannes Allert's academic journey can best be summarized as, "Not all who wander are lost." Graduating from MSU (B.S. Sociology, Minor History), he held a variety of jobs in Human Services, Corporate Travel, and the Medical Device Industry. Still, he never forgot his love for the humanities. After completing his Master's in Military History from Norwich University (Vermont), he immersed himself in historical research, and his articles appeared in Air & Space Power, North Dakota History, Minnesota History, and Ramsey County History. Additionally, he collaborated with Ms. Cathy Wurzer of TPT, and Karen George of QCTV to produce separate historical subjects. During the height of COVID, he pursued a doctorate in American Studies at Swansea University (Wales, U.K.) Since earning his Ph.D. in 2024, Dr. Allert has continued working in media -- Pioneer Public's documentary on "Dr. Nellie," is slated for release in the Fall of 2025. In between his research and writing, Dr. Allert has taught at Rogers State University, Moorhead State University, and his alma mater, Minnesota State University - Mankato. "It was a great privilege to return to MSU and lead a survey course in American History. If allowed to do it again, I would in a heartbeat." Allert said. Above all, Dr. Allert maintains that, despite current trends, the topic of history remains relevant and that fostering a contextual understanding of society is vital. Despite 'taking the long way 'round the barn' to return to his love of humanities, Dr. Allert has no regrets whatsoever.
