: Independence is important. Fresh air is good for them. They need space to roam and explore and just BE kids. I fully believe all of that. I also fully believe in checking the window every four minutes like a human security camera. It's called balance.

I stand by everything I said to my kids. The tone correction was necessary and completely valid. What happens on the walk to the kitchen is between me and the kitchen, and we don't need to discuss it further.
