Loving people is expensive.
It costs time.
It costs comfort.
Sometimes it costs our pride.
The goal isn't asking, "How little can I sacrifice?"
The better question is:
"Am I keeping my heart open to love this person?"
Because open hearts inevitably lead to sacrifice.
Forgiveness is one of the hardest things Jesus asks us to do.
Not because the hurt wasn't real.
Not because what happened was okay.
But because forgiveness requires vulnerability.
It means refusing to let pain harden your heart.
The grace God gives us was never meant to stop with us—it was meant to flow through us.

Pain tempts us to withdraw.
To stop trusting.
To stop loving.
To stop risking.
But healing doesn't come from isolation.
It comes from staying connected to Jesus and the people He has placed around us.
Who helps keep you rooted?
Sometimes life feels like one storm after another.
Relationships.
Health struggles.
Disappointment.
Loss.
The answer isn't closing our hearts to protect ourselves.
The answer is putting down deeper roots.

This Sunday we celebrated an important milestone as Community Covenant hosted the first congregational meeting and became a self-governing church.
More importantly, we were reminded that when life's storms come, we don't survive by closing our hearts.
We survive by staying rooted in Jesus and connected to one another.
