Axolotls are a type of salamander commonly kept as household pets, but did you know that they are critically endangered in the wild? These cute little creatures are native only to Lake Xochimilco in Mexico. Axolotls are unique in that they never outgrow their larval stage and remain in their juvenile state for their entire lives. Pretty neat!

Grizzly bear cubs stay with their mothers until they are between two and three years old. They spend this time learning important skills such as how to climb trees, forage for food, and defend themselves against competition. If you see a bear cub, be cautious as their mom isn't far away!
Bears can consume up to 90 pounds of food a day and can double their body weight leading up to their hibernation period. This means that a fat bear is a healthy bear!

Corn snakes are constrictors native to the eastern United States. They likely got their name due to the checkerboard pattern on their bellies which has a resemblance to maize. The name may also come from their habit of hanging around cornfields and grain storage in order to prey on the rodents that are attracted to such places.

Tigers are the largest cat species on earth. Indian/Bengal, Siberian/Amur, Sumatran, Indochinese, South China, and Malayan are the six living subspecies of tiger. All of these groupings are considered the same species, however, and between them all, only about 4,500 individuals are left in the wild. Bali, Javan, and Caspian are three subspecies that went extinct in the 1940s, 1980s, and 1970s respectively.
