It’s almost time for the Ducks Unlimited Fishing Derby!! 🎣

We keep hearing that the lake levels are to "worst we've ever seen". Here is a chart from the Bureau of Reclamation site. You can find the link to this chart in the comments. This chart shows the water levels for this year and the past five years. Each line is a different year. You can see the orange line (2023) shows that on April 1 the elevation of Flaming Gorge was 6006 ft. The purple line (2022) shows that the lakes elevation on this day, June 24, the elevation was 6014 ft. The elevation of Flaming Gorge today is 6016 ft.

There has been a change in the flows down the Green River. As of June 25, 2026 the flows out of the dam will be increased to 1750 cfs. It has been flowing at 1600 cfs so there has been a small increase. These flows will continue from here forward.

The surface temperature of Flaming Gorge was measured at 62 degrees this week. All boat ramps are still open!

Beginning June 8, 2026, Flaming Gorge Dam releases will ramp up to full powerplant capacity (from ~1,100 cfs to 4,600 cfs) for the smallmouth bass flow experiment. The 72-hour operation supports ongoing fish management efforts. Ramp down will begin June 11, following an hourly release pattern coordinated with the Western Area Power Administration. Flows will fluctuate due to power generation needs.

During this period, the selective withdrawal structure will release colder water to further disadvantage smallmouth bass. Recreationists on the Green River should use caution, as flows will be cold, swift and subject to quick changes.
