37 years today. ❤️

That feels both impossible and somehow very ordinary at the same time.

When we were newly married, I remember admiring couples celebrating 18 years and thinking, “Wow. That’s impressive.” Now somehow we’ve doubled that.

Marriage has held beautiful moments and hard ones. Three babies who are now grown and flown adults. Seasons of laughter, stress, growth, exhaustion, delight, misunderstanding, forgiveness, rebuilding, and deep comfort.

One of the greatest gifts of my life has been being married to a man who is deeply thoughtful and kind.

John remembers things I completely miss — who likes cheese and who doesn’t, who wants mayo on their sandwich, what kind of pizza everyone prefers. He listens carefully and loves people well.

Meanwhile, I notice things like spelling errors and crooked picture frames. 😅

Over the years, he has helped me become a steadier and more thoughtful person simply by asking good questions:
“Why does that matter so much to you?”
“Would you treat a friend that way?”
“Does it need to be that important?”

Not always comfortable questions. But good ones.

37 years isn’t about perfection. It’s about continuing to show up for each other through a whole lot of life.

And honestly? I still think he’s pretty handsome too.
