On World Oceans Day, weโre reminding our neighbors that our storm drains lead directly to local waterways. ๐๏ธ Unlike the water in your toilets, stormwater isn't treated before it hits the ocean. ๐ซ๐งผ

Happy World Environment Day! ๐โจ Today, we celebrate the rivers, streams, and aquifers that provide our community with life-sustaining water. ๐๏ธ๐ง
Protecting our water starts at the source. ๐ก๏ธ You can help keep our local watershed pristine with these simple steps:
๐ฑ Limit the Green: Reduce fertilizer use on your lawn.
๐พ Scoop the P**p: Always pick up after your dog.
๐ซ Drain Safety: Never dump chemicals down storm drains.
Every drop of prevention keeps our local system healthy and thriving! ๐ช๐

Getting some great ideas from the folks at Moonshot Missions!
Occasionally residents will ask questions about the meter technology that allows hourly meter reads. The link below will take you to some educational info we've had on our website. Two pages -- the first page explains how it works (i.e. the nature of the technology) and the second to address any potential concerns with exposure to radio frequencies compared to typical daily exposure. If you have any questions, please be sure send inquiries to [email protected].

MAWSA crews will begin routine hydrant flushing on Monday, June 1 in the northern portion of our water service area. Flushing activities are expected to continue for the next few days.
This important maintenance helps remove naturally occurring sediment from water mains, supports water quality, and ensures hydrants are operating properly for fire protection.
Customers in affected areas may notice temporary discoloration or brief pressure changes during flushing activities. If discoloration occurs, running cold water for several minutes will typically clear the water.
Please use caution around crews working in the area and allow extra space near wet roadway conditions.
We appreciate the communityโs patience and cooperation as we perform this important system maintenance.

Water Main Replacement Project: Update on Restoration
The MAWSA staff will be meeting with the Contractor tomorrow 5/27 to review all Punch list items for final restoration in the various locations where the water improvements were made. Their crews are expected to clean up all items early in the week beginning 5/31. This has taken a long time, but your patience has allowed us to maximize the value of the grant received to support this improvement.

As we gear up for weekend BBQs, remember that pouring grease down the sink is a recipe for a sewer backup. ๐ ๐ซ
When F.O.G. (fats, oils, grease) cools down, it binds with "flushable" wipes to create massive blockages. Keep your plumbing (and our community's pipes) clear by scraping pans into the trash instead! ๐ฎ๐ช
