UW Math Olympiad @ Math-M-Addicts in NYC on Sunday, June 7

UW Math Olympiad @ Math-M-Addicts — Math-M-Addicts UW Math Olympiad @ MathMaddicts, an oral math competition for students in 6th and 7th grades, will take place on Sunday, June 7th at the Speyer School (925 9th Ave). To be eligible for the competition, all of the below conditions need to be satisfied:

Math-M-Addicts, in collaboration with the UW Math Circle, is bringing UW Math Olympiad to New York!

UW Math Olympiad @ MMA, a free oral math competition for students in 6th - 7th grade, will be held at 12 noon (ET) on Sunday, June 7th at the Speyer School. Students participating in UWMO@MMA will have 3 hours to work on 7 problems. When a student believes they have a solution to a problem, they will present it verbally to a pair of judges, who will ask questions and offer feedback on the solution.

Enrollment at Math-M-Addicts is *not* a prerequisite.

This past April, our very own Girls' Adventures in Math held their annual competition where they hosted 250 teams with almost 1000 girls in 18 states nationwide! Thanks to all the mathletes who participated in this year’s contest!

Join us this Friday from 6-7PM for a FREE class! Let's explore the Knights and Knaves puzzles popularized by Raymond Smullyan, a great American mathemagician. Here's the basic idea. Knights always tell the truth. Knaves always lie. Can you tell who is a knight or a knave? Try your hand at the puzzle!

Our free Community Class pilot series was designed as a way to introduce students to elementary problem solving techniques. We envisioned this as a way for all of us -- friends, family, and strangers -- to bond over battles of wits and a shared love for math, puzzles, and overthinking every little nuance of every little thing.
