Mary Kay Siefers will retire, but won’t stop being authentically herself | K-State Alumni Association 06/17/2026

Mary Kay Siefers ’83, ’97, ’00 retired from K-State as a teaching professor and director of Global Food Systems Leadership Program in the Staley School of Leadership at the end of the semester. The Staley School has been the place where Siefers said she’s lived her life most authentically. She’s been involved with the school and its programming since it was founded in 1997, first taking a women in leadership class from founding director Susan Scott.

Wichita man behind viral mowing videos is a K-Stater | K-State Alumni Association 06/15/2026

In August of 2021 Spencer B. ’21 started posting videos of his Wichita, Kansas, based mowing projects on social media.

Almost five years later, he’s now a full-time content creator making ASMR videos, which stands for autonomous sensory meridian response, featuring mowing and pressure washing across multiple platforms.

Grit and resilience drive Dr. Maureen McKiernan ’08 in her work as a cardiac surgeon | K-State Alumni Association 06/11/2026

During her time as a student at K-State, Dr. Maureen McKiernan ’08 competed on the university’s rowing team.

She still looks back on rowing as one of the hardest things she’s ever done — requiring what she calls “sheer grit.”

That hard-fought resilience and determination still serves her today as a surgeon at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City, where she specializes in cardiac surgery and in particular pediatric cardiac surgery and transplants.

New leaders assume their roles on K-State Alumni Association board of directors | K-State Alumni Association 06/11/2026

The K-State Alumni Association board of directors transitioned its membership and leadership June 6 during the board’s annual meeting in Manhattan, Kansas.

“As one of only 22 private, self-governed alumni associations in the country, our board of directors are critical in fulfilling our mission to reach, connect and serve all K-Staters and our university,” said Adam Walker, president and CEO of the Alumni Association. “I want to personally thank our outgoing members for their time, service and dedication to make us better. We are also excited to welcome our new members as we continue to build on our longstanding legacy of being a Top 10 alumni association nationally.”
