Faces of Xavier This past summer, Alexander Suciu ’28 represented Xavier at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders, a distinguished national program that recognizes exceptional high school students demonstrating outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and passion for a future in medicine.

Suciu was nominated by Nobel Laureate Dr. Mario Capecchi to participate in the event, which was held from June 25–27 at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. The Xavier E-News sat down with Suciu to discuss the experience.

Xavier E-News: Where are you from, and what brought you to Xavier?

Alexander Suciu ’28: I am from Queens, Long Island City. What brought me to Xavier was a variety of things including Xavier being an academically rigorous school but also the fact that Xavier builds young men like myself into adults who are educated, who have integrity, who are able to take responsibility for their lives, and who are strong both morally and spiritually.

E-News: Prior to being nominated, what did you know about the Congress of Future Medical Leaders? What was your motivation or your “call” to participate in the event?”…
