It is with sad news that we let you know we are closed for good. It has been a wild 5 years but can’t thank our loyal supporters enough for everything over the years as well as our lovely neighbors in business! Special thank you to because none of this would’ve been possible without him grinding along side me! Happy news though as I get to stay in the community and took a teaching position in the school district! From the bottom of my heart, thank you and love love love ❤️

Now that the dust has settled and we’ve all had time to process and reflect, we at ZL Smoothie wanted to pay tribute to an amazing woman, Nicolette of Nico’s Little Italy. Kinda stinks we don’t don’t have any pictures together but I think it was because we would always be taking pictures for each other. She was always so eager to help us in any way she could whether it be spoiling her staff with our gift cards or doing one of many cross promotions to share customers. She invited Ervin and I into the Nico’s family with no hesitation, always having us over for employee parties and events. She will be truly missed and couldn’t have asked for a better sister/neighbor in business. We are, however, excited to hear that they will be keeping her spirit and vision going by reopening and continuing to run what has become a corner staple of Aggieville.

It is with a heavy heart we announce the loss of Nicolette Unruh; owner and operating partner here at Nico’s Little Italy.

We used to talk about her dream of opening and running her own restaurant over bourbon and pickle backs and it has been my greatest honor helping her achieve her lifelong dream with Nico’s.

She has played a vital role in Manhattan and surrounding communities for many years. She often attended city commission meetings, with a goal to make a difference, speak up for her employees, and always be a voice for those who didn’t have the ability to do it for themselves.

Nico was fierce and had so much drive and tenacity. She was the brains and the strength of our organization. We still need time to grieve our loss so we will continue to be closed over the next several days.
