What a birth day. 🤍 Yesterday we got to witness some serious business-hours homebirth magic — and then we celebrated outside like the proud birth nerds we are. The tree of life print? That’s Sarah’s arts & crafts. Birth is art, birth is sacred, and honestly, we’re just plain lucky to do this work as best friends at Manhattan Birth.

“Without a doubt, the most fun and comprehensive training I have ever taken.”
Gabriela Pezo is a Manhattan Birth mentorship graduate. She came in wanting a complete education in birth work — and that’s exactly what she got.
Business building, sustainability, marketing, hands-on skills, and real support through one of the toughest doula challenges: secondary birth trauma.
And she made lifelong friends along the way🩷

One of the biggest takeaways from our conversation on boundaries for birth workers + building a sustainable practice is this:
Most burnout in birth work doesn’t come from the work itself, it comes from how we’re taught to do the work.
We talked about how overgiving gets mistaken for “good care,” how new doulas often confuse availability with professionalism, and how quickly scarcity mindset can override boundaries.
We also talked about what actually changes things: client management, clear systems, and community support that keeps you from doing this work in isolation.
The goal isn’t doing less for clients. It’s building a practice that can actually hold the work.

“Without that mentorship, there’s no way I would have been a midwife.”
Sarah Lovell, CNM came to Manhattan Birth before our mentorship program even officially existed. What she found here wasn’t just training — it was permission. Permission to dream bigger. To believe that if she didn’t like the way things had always been done, she could just do it differently - herself - and make a difference.
That’s what we build here. Not just doulas. Not just midwives. But leaders and birth workers who know, deep down, that anything is possible.

Feeling overwhelmed in your birth work? 😰 You don’t have to do it alone!
The Manhattan Birth Doula Mentor Program is about more than learning. It’s about becoming the birth worker you're meant to be.
As former mentee Maya Hernandez said:
"I was looking for a place where I could say, 'I'm overwhelmed. I don't want to burn out.' Talking with more experienced doulas, I realized people have figured this out. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time."
❤️❤️❤️

So many birth workers start out thinking they can do it all on their own.
You’ve trained, learned the skills, built your website, set your pricing, and started taking clients.
And then you realize there is more to running a practice than you expected. 😅
Our Spring '26 Doula Mentorship Program is here to give you guidance, support, and community so you can grow your confidence, your skills, and your business without doing it alone.
If you want to hear more before applying, join us for a free Info Session on April 16 at 6pm ET right here on IG. We’ll talk about boundaries, mentorship, and what it really looks like to build a sustainable birth practice.
Enrollment for this Spring's cohort closes Friday, April 24.
