Student Spotlight! 

Here's Quentin Clotfelter, a junior in High School. He's been working at Derby for about 3 semesters! His favorite thing about working in dining services is the free food he receives as an employee.

Around finals week our schedules can get a little crazy, but your diet shouldn’t suffer! It is especially important to prioritize healthy food during stressful times. Here are some example snack plates using ingredients available every day in both K-State Dining centers from 11:00 a.m. until we close!

Slide #1: This plate has baby carrots, sliced cucumbers, and sliced red bell peppers along with pita bread and a scoop of hummus. It also has apple slices with a scoop of smooth peanut butter.

Slide #2: This plate has a slice of whole wheat bread with crunchy peanut butter on top. It also has raw broccoli and cherry tomatoes with a small side a ranch dressing. Lastly, it has a handful of dried cranberries.

Slide #3: This plate has a serving of raw spinach topped with sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and balsamic vinaigrette. It also has a scoop of sweet potato topped with sunflower seeds. Lastly, it has a serving of cottage cheese.

Slide #4: This plate has baby carrots and sliced cucumbers with a small side of ranch dressing. It also has a scoop of mandarin oranges and a scoop of blueberry yogurt.

Slide 5: This plate has sliced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, orange wedges, a scoop of cottage cheese, and a handful of dried cranberries.

Ian is a sophomore studying Advertising and Public Relations.

When asked what his favorite thing about working in dining services is, Ian said “I like all the co-workers that make shifts fun.”

Ian also said, “I have learned a lot about government policies about food safety that I definitely didn’t know.”
