I haven’t posted on here in a while, but not due to not having projects, just due to making lots of gifts that I couldn’t share yet!

Here’s a massive wood burned creation I did a couple months ago for a wedding guest book. This chunk of tree came right out of the bride and groom’s backyard of their first home together. 💕

A snuggly ice skating watercolor painting for this chilly winter day! Message me if you’re interested in something like this 😊

I had never done a “faceless” watercolor portrait with landscape scenery in the background before this one, but I think I’m really digging it!

What do you guys think? Scenery or plain white background like my cover photo?

If you’ve been wondering what the process of making a wood burned creation is like, then this post is for you!

After the wood and design are chosen, I print and trace it using either an exact-o knife or etching tool. Once there’s a rough etch of the design (particularly words because those can be hard to free hand) I outline it in pencil and start burning!

This is a fairly large piece and it took about 7 hours to finish! Are there any Bible verses or sayings you’d like to see in a wood burning creation?

Another Christmas present creation in the books and another Covid wedding down 😌✅

I think this is officially the largest wood burning project I’ve completed and I LOVE it. Elizabeth picked out the wood and came to me with a full design in mind and I made it happen for her and her husband Andy!

Whether you have just a small idea in mind or a full design of something you might like me to create, I’m willing to go there with you!

Check out my previous post for a little time lapse video of this special creation!

I don’t know about you, but I find these time lapse videos super interesting. I wasn’t able to get it all in one shot because I made this piece in multiple sittings, but I think it’s so cool to watch it all come together in just a minute when in reality it takes hours!

Here’s a sneak peek of a little wood burning project that’s to come this week!

Wood burning is so unique because the way the wood burns varies based on the type of wood, the grains, and even the tool I use. Because fire is unpredictable, it can make the textured look of these pieces unpredictable which always makes me SO excited to see the finished product of these truly unique, custom works of art.

Check back soon for the finished product! 🪵🔥
