High water continues to affect a number of roadways in St. Tammany Parish, but all eyes are on southwest Louisiana this morning after Hurricane Laura came ashore overnight.
Fifteen deputies from the St.Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office Special Operations Division are en route to the Lake Charles area, with six flat boats, eight pickups and a host of other equipment to assist law enforcement there with search and rescue operations. Other municipalities and their law enforcement agencies are sure to follow with whatever assistance they can muster.
Various relief efforts from our churches, businesses and civic clubs are organized and planning to head west to care for the thousands of people who were in the direct line of the catastrophic storm.
Please post your organization's relief efforts, and appropriate contact information here, so people who want to help, can help.
Those of us who lived and worked through Hurricane Katrina almost 15 years ago to this day know the generosity that was shown to us by so many people from around the world. This is another chance for us to return the love.
May peace be with us. And love -- always love.

Stumbled upon Steve today on the way out to Folsom coming from Covington on LA-25. So much talent in this area! His studio is on the highway and he’s open shop until 4pm today.
