We lift up the victims and their families in prayer following yesterday’s tragedy at the Mall of Louisiana, asking for God’s comfort and peace in the days ahead. We are deeply grateful for the courage and professionalism of our law enforcement, first responders, and medical teams who answered the call in a moment of great need.
Senate President Cameron Henry and House Speaker Phillip DeVillier issued the following joint statement regarding today’s shooting at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge:
“Our prayers go out as we mourn the life lost today and pray for the recovery of all those injured…”

Louisiana is shining bright in the national conversation on education—and for good reason.
That kind of progress doesn’t happen by accident. It reflects a clear commitment from educators, leaders, and policymakers to get back to what works.
There’s always more to do, but it’s worth recognizing when Louisiana is moving in the right direction—and delivering results for our students.

Deeply saddened to hear about the shooting in Shreveport today. I join my colleagues in the Legislature in lifting up the victims, their families, and the entire community in prayer.
Senate President Cameron Henry and House Speaker Phillip DeVillier issued the following joint statement regarding this morning’s shootings in Shreveport:
“Our hearts are broken by this tragedy… We stand ready to assist in any way that we can in the days ahead.”
This is why I go to the Capitol.
For kids like Suzie—and every child across Louisiana.
We’re working to create real opportunity and prosperity here at home—bringing high-impact jobs with an average salary of $90,000 and building clear career pathways for the future.
Louisiana is where our kids should be able to stay, grow, and succeed. And this Legislature is delivering that—for Suzie and for every child across our state. Stay tuned.
Delivered today by the Louisiana House of Representatives.
HB1 passed the House floor unanimously—no amendments, strong support, and fiscally responsible.

It was an honor to welcome Louisiana Department of Health Secretary Bruce Greenstein to the Northshore to meet with our local hospital leaders and physicians.
I’m grateful for the work being done at both the state and local level to strengthen care, improve outcomes, and expand access for the families we serve. These conversations matter—and so does the collaboration behind them.

The Capitol was awash in red with so many strong Republican women advocating for their priority bills this session.
I especially enjoyed spending time with our Northshore groups— Mandeville Republican Women and Republican Professional Women of St. Tammany. Always great to have friends from home in Baton Rouge.
It was a busy and productive time at the Capitol, and I also enjoyed catching up in the House Chamber with former Senate Finance Chairman Jack Donahue and Brian Hodnett of DonahueFavret Contractors, Inc. It’s always good to connect with Mandeville friends and hear about the continued growth and investment happening across our state. Louisiana is growing.
