It seems as though sacrifice bunting is a long lost art, but it can not only be the difference of your team winning or losing a game, it can also be the difference of you being put in the lineup or sitting on the bench.
As a player I will be the first to admit, I was not a huge fan of getting the bunt sign from the coach because I always felt like I could hit the run in, but when push came to shove, if I was asked to lay one down, I got the job done and there is really no excuse not to. As long as you do the job correctly, only good things can come from it.
As a coach I can tell you the one thing I can't stand more than anything is giving a player the sac bunt sign and then watching them not execute it. Intentional or not, it is viewed as selfish when you don't get it down and regardless of the outcome when he lets you swing. So do yourself a favor and learn how to get the job done.
There are different footworks that you will use while turning double plays as a second baseman. Do you know them?

Growing up I always had coaches telling me to “set my feet,” but...
There are some plays in the game that have to be made on the run. You can’t always set your feet because sometimes you don’t have enough time.
In the full length video in my bio I teach 3 different techniques for making the play on the run.
