It’s finally summer and crazy May-cember is coming to an end! Undetected vision problems can impact your child’s life outside the classroom too! Children need more than a school screening. For school-aged children, the American Optometric Association recommends an eye exam every two years if no vision correction is required. Children who need eyeglasses or contact lenses should be examined annually, or according to their eye doctor's recommendations. A comprehensive exam assesses visual acuity, or the clarity and sharpness of vision, and will also check for:
Strabismus (crossed eyes) and eye alignment
Depth perception
Overall health of the inside and outside of the eye
Indications of more serious eye conditions.
