On Friday July 28th at approximately 14:30, Malone Callfiremen was dispatched to a structure fire at 23 Park st., a residential 2 1/2 story building. Initial reports stated smoke and flames visible. Within minutes Engine-103 and Tower-104 arrived on scene and started firefighting operations. Crews were met with heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the structure. It was an intense battle all day. Everything from manpower to the extreme heat and humidity. At the end of the day 3 firefighters were sent to the hospital for heat exhaustion and minor injuries. We want to thank ALL mutual aid departments, manpower, True Northern Bank, Burger King and anyone else we may have forgotten to mention. This was a great moment to see the community come together as a whole to support our first responders and the family that suffered a great loss.

For many volunteer fire departments, mutual-aid assistance is very important, especially with the dwindling number of volunteers available to answer the call today. On Monday June 26th we coordinated another joint training exercise with members from Bangor Volunteer Fire department. It was held behind NCCC and consisted of pump and ariel ladder training.
