There are many holes in the evolution theory and while I believe it occurs, I know there are many unexplained bits. The irony, of course, is Darwin's work was called "The Origin of Species" but really never discussed the origin of life, only life's adaptation and evolution for survival. Early life records, at the bottom of the ocean, 3.5 billion years ago, do not show a clean line of evolution leading to cross-speciation at all. Instead there is a record of a nearly infinite number of one-celled microbes that existed for billions of years with no one-celled microbe becoming like another. Only extinction and the growth of others. No evidence of quantum speciation at this level either. These are creation events, not evolution. Multi-cellular life didn't even form until at least another 2 billion years after microbes.
