Today, on National Police Woman Day, Wisconsin State Capitol Police proudly recognizes the women who serve our agency as sworn law enforcement officers.

Throughout our department, women serve in patrol, investigations, specialized services, protective services, and leadership roles. They protect state facilities and officials, respond to calls for service, support major events, build community partnerships, and serve state employees and members of the public with professionalism and compassion.

We are grateful for our women officers and the many ways they serve our agency and the State of Wisconsin.

☀️Good morning! Taste of Madison is back on the Capitol Square today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with 90-plus vendors serving up food from around the world alongside live music all afternoon. Our dedicated officers will be out and about all day, so stop by and say hello, grab a bite, and support this great Madison tradition. We hope to see you there!

🚴 On Saturday, we had the honor of helping welcome riders from Project Hero's Great Lakes Challenge to the Wisconsin State Capitol following their 425-mile journey! This year's ride brought nearly 40 veterans and first responders through Wisconsin as part of Project Hero's mission to address the veteran and first responder mental health crisis. Thank you to every rider for the miles you covered and the cause you rode for.

A special thank you to our own Corporal Andrew Hyatt, a U.S. Navy Veteran himself, for escorting the riders to the Capitol at the end of their final leg of this year's event.

🎉 Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Adam Haas on his most recent endeavor: leading our Court Protection Unit. Throughout his career, Sgt. Haas has led security operations for high-profile government events, supervised the department's patrol staff, and worked closely with Capitol stakeholders and numerous law enforcement partners.

Our Court Protection Unit (CPU) is made up of specially trained police officers who focus on the personal protection of WI Supreme Court Justices, along with providing services to the Wisconsin Court System as a whole.

We are excited to welcome the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra back for this season’s Concerts on the Square beginning tomorrow, June 24th from 7 PM to 9 PM! The 2026 season of Concerts on the Square will be held on the following Wednesdays: June 24th, July 1st, July 8th, July 15th July 22rd, July 29th, with weekly rain dates each Thursday.

As we kick off this concert season, we would like to remind visitors of some key notes to make their experience smooth:

▪️Capitol Square closes from South Hamilton to North Hamilton at 3:00 PM the day of the concert. We encourage visitors to utilize one of the nearby public parking options here: https://www.cityofmadison.com/parking/garages-lots/current-hourly-parking-availability

▪️Blankets may be placed on the Capitol lawn beginning at 3:00 PM on show dates.

▪️Concerts on the Square is one of the few events that we allow alcohol to be consumed on the Capitol grounds. Please help us out by keeping any alcoholic beverages outside of the Capitol building and disposing of them properly when they are empty. All open alcoholic beverages must be consumed or disposed of by 9:30 PM.

▪️The Capitol building will close immediately following the intermission.

▪️If unexpected severe weather occurs during the concerts, the Capitol may be re-opened for emergency shelter.

▪️If you need assistance, look for one of our friendly uniformed officers. They are always happy to assist.

▪️If you see something suspicious, please say something by calling State Capitol Police at 608-266-8797, or dial 911 for an emergency.
