Yesterday, at the City of Decatur Youth Services Impact Day, was a reminder of why this work is necessary.
I had the opportunity to connect with families, students, and community members who stopped by my table to engage in meaningful conversation, explore A Lamp to Their Path, and learn more about the vision behind SNAP Academy. Each interaction reflected a shared desire to better support children, both academically and personally.
What stayed with me most was the visible impact DYS is making in the community. I laughed with former students and listened to their journeys. I spoke with parents about building stronger relationships with teachers so that children are supported on every side.
Impact is not a word we say.
Impact is what we do.
Impact is how we show up.
Impact is choosing to invest in people when it would be easier to walk away.
Thank you again to the City of Decatur Youth Services for inviting me to be part of something meaningful.
