A warm WISLI congratulations to Lesley Bartlett, Associate Dean for Regional, International, and Language Studies, who is one of 12 UW–Madison professors to receive the Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professorship. The award honors faculty whose “distinguished scholarship has advanced the confines of knowledge, and whose excellence also includes teaching or service.” Dr. Bartlett is a distinguished anthropologist of education in the field of international and comparative education whose research focuses on literacies, migration, and educator professional development.

Congratulations to Purnima Thakur, Program Coordinator for the Southeast Asian Flagship Languages Initiative (SEAFLI)! She just completed her sixth semester of Persian with WISLI instructor Dr. Fatemeh Mirsharifi, finishing the full advanced sequence.
