The unsinkable optimist in me hopes, and truly believes that all this A.I. fetishism and technocrat idolatry will parlay, and sooner rather than later in to a deeper appreciation of what we already have in each other, and lean further in to that which we’ve taken for granted for much too long already.
Our thirst for human connection, human made art, vast swaths of boredom from which all great ideas are sown, will become the new norm.
We won’t reject the tech entirely, we’ll just remember it’s role in our lives, as tools, while also keeping our flesh hands firmly on the wheel.
I see the tide already turning, as the younger generations reject it’s grasp on their parents’ generation, disillusioned by the billionaires we’ve made demagogues of, fooling ourselves in to this dystopian story of which we already know the ending.
It’s gonna take each one of us to anchor our humanity at the shores of this new frontier, and I believe we’re gonna do it, damnit.
This won’t cure anything. Not illness. Not sadness. Not loneliness. Not that weird rash.
It might, however, change how you deal with all those things. It’ll hold your hand through the hard stuff.
I make music to comfort the heavy feelings of life’s darker moments. I write songs out of my own grief, and I share them in hopes it’ll make yours feel a little less heavy.
