The Hump Day update today comes from Expo seminar host Steve Heiting... congrats to Bill's Musky Club on all the years of conservation & education! 🍻🏆

50 YEARS AGO — The largest independent (non-Muskies Inc.) musky club is Bill's Musky Club of Wausau. Founded by restauranteur Bill Hoeft in 1964, the club today heavily promotes catch and release fishing, but times were much different in 1976 — 50 years ago — when this photo was taken after a club outing at the Chanticleer Inn on the Eagle River Chain.

According to information attached to the photo: "26 legal muskies were caught in the Eagle River Chain. The total catch amounted to 260 pounds, 10 ounces, and measured 72 feet, 11 -3/4 inches. The top three fishermen with their catches shown are — kneeling — Andy Anderson, Sun Prairie, WI, first place 24 pounds, 45-1/2-inches caught on Andy's Bait (homemade); Paul Austin, Clear Lake, Iowa, second place 20-1/4-pound, 41 inches caught on a sucker; and Steve Stroyny, Mosinee, WI, third place, 20 pounds, 43 inches, caught on a sucker.
