quilts & more, handmade in Wisconsin

Sitting at my sewing machine today for the first time in who knows how long. I’m glad I still remembered how to make binding 🤭

Counted cross stitch was the first crafty skill I can remember learning as a little girl. I remember my mom taking me shopping for new patterns & we always had the finished pieces framed which made the whole process feel extra special.

I finished this piece in February for a good friend who heartbreakingly lost her baby girl a year ago. The pattern name “Forget Me Knot” felt like the perfect way to remember her on what would’ve been her 1st birthday. 💛

Hi 👋🏻 remember me? 🤭 I lost my sew-jo there for a bit, or maybe I’ve turned into a “poor weather quilter” and only want to quilt when the weather turns chilly 🤷🏼‍♀️🤭 Either way, I’ve slowly been making progress on this hand quilting project and IT’S ALMOST DONE. Hoping to share more after Thanksgiving!

Happy Friday friends! I’ve been pretty quiet in this space lately but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been quilting 🤗 This Tiny Tile quilt is officially complete and I’ve started cutting out my next project! More on both to come 🙃

🙋🏼‍♀️Question! When you start a new quilt, do you usually pick a backing fabric at the same time? Do you start with a backing fabric and select fabrics for the front from there?

I usually select a backing once my quilt top is done and can usually find something I love. Not always but probably 95% of the time.

A perfect example: I started piecing this Tiny Tile quilt a couple years ago and was giddy when I saw how perfectly it coordinated with new the Rainbow Starry print I just purchased a couple weeks ago.

I have about half of the top quilted. Think I can finish before I leave for Florida on Friday morning?! 😬

A productive Saturday is just what I needed 🥰 I finished a baby quilt top, ran a bunch of errands, took the dogs for an hour long walk & whipped up a new curling iron sleeve for an upcoming trip! 🤗😅

I didn’t use a pattern for this - just made it up as I went! Fabrics & Insul-bright I had on hand. Win win!

✨ I often don’t realize I’ve lost my sew jo until I get it back. And it feels good to be back.
