At DAMA’s Mobile Art Day, spending time with these talented students was a powerful reminder of how art and music can bring people together and build community. When creativity and collaboration meet, something special happens.

Our Mobile Art Studio is all about making art accessible—bringing hands-on art experiences directly to schools and neighborhoods. This means you’ll be seeing more of DAMA’s artists out in the community this summer, using art as an alternative path to building relationships, strengthening community bonds, and supporting collective healing.

The theme of this mural, “Finding Belonging Through Music,” reflects our belief that creative expression can help everyone feel they have a place. With each brushstroke and note, we’re not just making art—we’re building connections, fostering understanding, and helping our neighborhoods heal and grow together.

We’re grateful for the support of the Community Reinvestment Fund and the state’s violence prevention grant, which make it possible for us to keep showing up, inspiring, and creating alongside our neighbors.

Are you passionate about art? Do you want to make a difference in your community and build real-world skills this summer? Join DAMA's Youth Apprenticeship Program!
We’re looking for creative, motivated youth (ages 14–17) in Madison, Verona, Monona, Sun Prairie, and surrounding areas to take part in a unique summer experience. As a DAMA Apprentice, you’ll work side-by-side with professional artists, learn mural design and painting techniques, and help create public art that inspires and heals.
What’s in it for you?
- Hands-on training in art and mural making
- Leadership and teamwork experience
- Guidance from professional artists and mentors
- A $15 per hour for your participation
- The chance to give back to your community
No previous art experience is required—just a willingness to learn and a desire to be part of something bigger. Work permit required.
