My heart is with the family and loved ones of Corey Ruiz. I’ve seen the disturbing videos of him being shot and killed by Madison police, and I join the people of Wisconsin in demanding answers.

There must be a thorough, fair, and transparent investigation into the circumstances that led to his death, and then there must be accountability.

We must continue fighting for policies that keep all Wisconsinites safe, including body cameras and stronger de-escalation training. We can and must do better.

I am holding Corey Ruiz, his loved ones, and the Madison community in my thoughts today.

The Child Care Bridge Payments program will end soon, putting child care funding at risk for providers and working families across the state. Having access to affordable care isn’t a luxury and shouldn’t be treated as one. I’m committed to supporting our providers and families and making sure they get the resources they need.
