Here is a quick recap of Day 2 of the 2026 North Georgia Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church. I am honored to represent Fork Chapel. Friday June 5 session started with at 7:45 with a "Clergy Executive Session"; not being clergy I did not attend. At 9:00 the training sessions started. The Friday training sessions continued the theme of the conference, namely the role of the GMC is spreading the word of God across the globe. After singing some hymns we had a session on "Engage Mission Training". The first message was to caution the local churches against focusing entirely on growing their church within theier community and not putting any effort into missions arount the world. The presentations included a lot of scripture references but the main focus for the entire day was on Acts 1:8 and how to become an Acts 1:8 church. In the middle of the morning we had a communion service. It was very impressive with 7 communion serving stations all serving at once. During the day we wer continually challenged with the question "Do you have a mission strategy in your church." However it was not just a challenge, a lot of resources were presented on how to accomplish this. From 2:00 pm until 4:30 pm was the "business" part of the conference where things such as budget, elections of officers, reports of committees, and amendments to the Appointive process. Then back to training from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. Much of the focus at this session was on "understanding Unreached People Groups (UPG's)" i.e. people with no access to christianity.

My overall impression was that this conference felt so much more like a church group and less like former UMC conferences that felt like corporate business meetings.

Day 1 of the 2026 North Georgia Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church. I am honored to represent Fork Chapel. Thursday June 4 session started with registration at 6:00 pm. Followed by hymn sing at 6:45 and a presentation on the “Engage” initiative which encourages all churches to get involved with missions work “extending the church’s mission outside your local church”. In particular the lesson focused on Jesus’s directives as stated in Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 1:8. Please read these passages before Sunday’s service, there will be a quiz 😎. The session closed with a very impactful sermon in Spanish (with an English language interpreter). Quite an experience. Now on to day 2.
