All of my apple, pear, crabapple, and cherry trees are blooming, so I’ve been inspired working on this piece all week.

Have you noticed all of the botanical AI images out there? Almost all of the bulb sales and many plant catalogs are now using AI images. It feels like we won’t have real plant images eventually. I don’t use AI for my art at all, and make all of my botanical art from the real plants or using reference photos I took myself of plants I grow myself. Plants are perfectly imperfect, always changing, always in a stage of bloom or decay. Support botanical artists and the preservation of botanical art from real plants! 🌱💚🌿 (image is of my latest drawing of a flowering crabapple tree)

I often draw using my own photographs as reference. Which means most of my art is of plants I grew myself on my land and had taken photos of. This is milkweed and a bee. All kinds of pollinators love milkweed, which grows wild all over here. I used to keep honeybees but don’t right now, so I always wonder how far they have come when we get visitors. 🐝🐛💓

I can’t believe our Analu Perfume launch is only 5 days away! We literally have been working for 2 years developing the perfumes and aromabutters, designing a new aromatherapy inhaler jewelry design, having a jewelry artisan handmake it for us, and so on. Final stretch!

Over the years I keep planting various flowering bulbs and bare root pretty much everywhere and now have blooms happening every day all summer somewhere on our land - in addition to the natives and herbs. I love the aroma and color of these. 💗💚

While hasn’t launched yet (in July!), we are already making batches for August as perfume needs time to macerate, like fine wine. 🍷 🌹
