Focus on Energy

Sustain Dane, in partnership with Focus on Energy and the Latino Academy of Workforce Development, recently completed the second session of our Home Energy Rebate Train-the-Trainer Program, a community education initiative that helps households reduce energy costs and improve home comfort.

The program trains community leaders to guide families through energy-saving opportunities, including home weatherization, efficiency upgrades, and available Wisconsin rebate programs funded through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

During the February session, participants learned how to:
• Identify energy-saving home improvements
• Understand energy bills and household energy use
• Apply for state and federal home energy rebates
• Access free energy-saving kits

In March, newly trained participants shared this knowledge within their own networks to help friends, coworkers, family members, and neighbors navigate rebate applications, access resources, and take steps toward healthier, more energy-efficient homes.

By building local expertise, the program expands access to energy savings while strengthening community capacity to support affordable, sustainable housing. 💡
