More than 107,000 neighbors have been connected to nutritious food and support through the Food as Medicine initiative, and behind every number is a story of strength, healing, and dignity. ​

​Through this initiative, food banks across the country partnered with over 30 health care providers to help over 100,000 neighbors experiencing food insecurity improve their health with access to nutritious, medically tailored food, tools for wellness, and support systems that meet them where they are. ​

​The newly released year two report shows the emotional and physical transformation behind that work—made possible with support from Elevance Health Foundation and the Center for Nutrition & Health Impact.

🚨 Millions of people enroll in programs like SNAP, Medicaid, and Medicare to get access to basics we all need – food and health care. Now, that support is at risk.

A new bill in Congress could reduce funding for programs that help people afford groceries, access medical care, and meet basic needs.

If passed, it could result in the loss of up to 9 billion meals each year. For comparison, the Feeding America network provided 6 billion meals last year. To truly end hunger, we need both local charities and strong federal nutrition programs working together.

SNAP, Medicaid, and Medicare work together to support families, children, older adults, and people with disabilities. When one is impacted, the entire system becomes more fragile.

As grocery prices remain high, the potential impact of these changes could be felt most by those already facing hunger. That’s why Feeding America’s Community Response Campaign is working to support food banks across the country.
