LEAP 2 College
LEAP 2 College is an after school tutoring and mentoring program rooted in a partnership between Edgewood College and the Lussier Community Education Center.
LEAP 2 College seeks to provide low income and minority youth with experiences that will allow them to succeed academically and personally with the overall goal of putting youth on track to successfully attend college. Approximately 25 students from the Lussier Community Education Center in grades 2-8 participate in this program.

The Perils of Plans: Why Creativity Requires Leaping into the Unknown "The job—as well as the plight, and the unexpected joy—of the artist is to embrace uncertainty, to be sharpened and honed by it."
Edgewood College was one of 34 recipients to receive some of the more than $4 million in College Ready grant funds awarded by Great Lakes. The College will use the grant funding during the 2013-2014 academic year to support students through two programs: The LEAP 2 College program, conducted in conjunction with the Lussier Community Education Center, and the Committed to College program (C2C), which is conducted in conjunction with Cherokee Middle School and West High School. Both programs offer weekly academic enrichment for students, as well as mentoring initiatives and activities on the Edgewood College campus throughout the school year.

During our third Campus Visit we visited the UW-Madison Biotechnology Center where we learned about DNA and what happens in the Center. Students were able to even extract DNA from wheat germ--GROSS!
Tutoring starts tomorrow! We are so excited for this upcoming semester. We'll be sure to keep you posted :)

Our fall semester of programming has come to a close. Thank you to all of our volunteers, students, families, and staff! It has been a great fall. We will soon be posting pictures from our tutoring sessions.
