Today, we stand in solidarity with immigrants and our allied organizations for Un Día Sin Inmigrantes. As an agency dedicated to uplifting survivors of violence, we recognize that the safety and dignity of immigrant communities are inseparable from the strength of our entire society. Immigrant women face sexual violence at nearly triple the U.S. average rate, reaching 49.8%. Sexual violence thrives on oppression, with immigrant survivors facing compounded vulnerabilities, including intersecting marginalized identities and the weaponization of immigration status by abusers. These vulnerabilities are heightened for those in ICE custody.

Speaking up carries enormous risks for immigrant survivors, making accessible, culturally competent support and awareness crucial. In Wisconsin, culturally specific organizations like Unidos WI provide vital resources for immigrant survivors of sexual violence, along with local survivors services across the state.

An estimated 9 million older adults worldwide experience sexual assault each year, often at the hands of someone they're related to or rely on for care. Speaking up carries huge personal and emotional consequences, making support and awareness crucial.

National Clearinghouse on Abuse in Later Life - NCALL has resources to learn more about abuse in later life and how to support survivors and services to survivors.

🗣️ Justice needs to be accessible and understood by everyone. Wisconsin Court Systems provide meaningful language access. Without proper interpretation, non-English speakers are significantly more likely to waive rights they may not fully understand.
