Today, we stand in solidarity with immigrants and our allied organizations for Un DΓa Sin Inmigrantes. As an agency dedicated to uplifting survivors of violence, we recognize that the safety and dignity of immigrant communities are inseparable from the strength of our entire society. When immigrants are excluded, everyone loses, especially those already facing the greatest vulnerabilities. We commit to continuing our advocacy and ensuring that every survivor, regardless of status, has access to the protection and healing they deserve.

Geographic isolation can silence survivors, leaving many with dangerously limited options. Rural survivors of sexual violence may drive over an hour just to access a SANE exam. Accessible local services aren't just convenient, they are a critical lifeline.

Wisconsin's many languages, from Hmong to Spanish to German and more, enrich our communities. But justice means everyone understands their rights. When participating in community resources and/or applying for critical protections multilingual support ensures fair access for all no matter their native tongue. Our diversity is strength; language access is justice. πŸŒπŸ—£οΈβš–οΈ

Every language carries unique wisdom and culture. Linguistic diversity enriches our communities, making us stronger together. But true justice requires everyone to be understood. Supporting multilingual access ensures fairness for all seeking legal protections, regardless of their mother tongue. πŸŒπŸ—£οΈβš–οΈ

Immigrant women face sexual violence at nearly triple the U.S. average rate, reaching 49.8%. Sexual violence thrives on oppression, with immigrant survivors facing compounded vulnerabilities, including intersecting marginalized identities and the weaponization of immigration status by abusers. These vulnerabilities are heightened for those in ICE custody.

Speaking up carries enormous risks for immigrant survivors, making accessible, culturally competent support and awareness crucial. In Wisconsin, culturally specific organizations like Unidos WI provide vital resources for immigrant survivors of sexual violence, along with local survivors services across the state.

πŸ—£οΈ Justice needs to be accessible and understood by everyone. Wisconsin Court Systems provide meaningful language access. Without proper interpretation, non-English speakers are significantly more likely to waive rights they may not fully understand.
