Well, that was an adventure! A tornado warning in the middle of our Sunday?! 🌪️
First, thank you to everyone who came out to support the market today. It was so wonderful to see all of your faces again and catch up! I especially loved getting hugs from farmer friends I have not seen since last Fall.
And a very special gratitude to our brand spanking new farmers market team, who handled the rain, the sirens, and the very quick wrap up with so much cheer, flexibility, and adventurous spirit. Nothing like an impending tornado to bond us quickly. ( :

Our menu planning for the market starts early in the week, and the bakers begin working on pastry doughs and breads days in advance. So when the weather forecast shifts, it gets a little nerve wracking because once we commit to the plan, there’s no undoing the pastry or the bread numbers. We are all in. ✨

It is May in Wisconsin after all. Which means a little rain between the sunshine, asparagus, rhubarb, muddy paths, armfuls of flowers, and all the spring vegetables we wait for all year long.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

All month long, our sugar cookies will carry messages of love, hope, kindness, and encouragement because words can matter. Michelle Obama once said, “We should make it clear that getting help isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of strength.”

This month’s Donation Creation sandwich will support Chrysalis, an organization dedicated to mental health advocacy, education, and compassionate care for individuals and families in our community.

Created by Scottie and Mark, this month’s sandwich is the OG Roast Beef. Thin sliced roast beef piled high on buttery house made pain de mie with melted Swiss, creamy aioli, and a kick of horseradish. Hot, ooey gooey, and irresistibly melty.

Mental health touches every family, every friendship, and every community. More than anything, we hope this month helps continue the conversation and the support.
