REACH-A-Child was recently honored to receive another donation of “Sally the Stone” from Madison author Sally Schnarr. Sally provided us with 100 copies of the Spanish-language version, which is extremely popular with the children comforted by our network of first responders.

Sally has been a supporter of, and ambassador for, REACH-A-Child for the past decade plus. Thank you, Sally!

📚 YOU can make a difference by helping bring comfort to a child on their worst day ❤️💙

When first responders arrive on the scene of a crisis, they’re often the first source of calm and reassurance a child receives. REACH-A-Child provides first responders with books they can give to children in those traumatic moments—offering comfort, distraction, and hope.

❤️ A book may seem small, but in a moment of fear or chaos, it can mean everything to a child.

✨ Your donation helps us:

🌟Put comforting, age-appropriate books directly into the hands of first responders
🌟Support kids facing trauma with a sense of safety and connection
🌟Strengthen our communities through literacy and compassion

📖 Join us in making sure no child faces crisis without comfort.

REACH-A-Child was recently honored to provide REACH BAG refills for the Janesville Police and Fire Departments. Police Chief Pearson and Fire Chief Murphy both received 20 REACH BAG refills along with hundreds of additional children’s books.

All of these resources were provided thanks to a wonderful grant from the Janesville Generations Fund of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin (CFSW). Representatives from the Janesville Generations Fund board of directors and CFSW were on hand to celebrate the delivery.

Thank you Chief Pearson, Chief Murphy, the Janesville Generations Fund board and donors as well as our long-time partners - the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin!

We hope that everyone has a good and safe Memorial Day with family and friends.

As you are with your loved ones today, take a moment to remember and honor the people who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

REACH-A-Child was recently honored to receive children’s book and cookie donations from Girl Scout Troop 8292.

The 13 members of the Troop raised money to purchase new children’s books for use in our REACH BAGs. The cookies were donated by members of the community during the annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale.

The children’s books will be heading to the Madison Police Department as we provide refills for their REACH BAGs.

Thank you, Scouts!

REACH-A-Child was recently honored to deliver 30 REACH BAGs to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office. There were some special elements to this new partnership. We were connected to the Wood County Sheriff by a member of the Order of the Eastern Star - Carol McAlister. She has been a huge ambassador for RAC since we began this journey last summer.

In addition, Sheriff Becker was so enthused about the program he decided to drive (with Carol) to our warehouse to pick up the books and backpacks. The plans changed only after it was determined that 30 REACH BAGs (plus six for Wisconsin Rapids PD) would likely not fit in his vehicle.

We are so grateful to Carol and the Order of the Eastern Star for funding this delivery, and to Sheriff Becker for being a total class act and great leader.
