I am thankful to be German. Appleton was a German speaking city until the 1920s. The newspaper Appleton Volksfreund was published until 1932. But, anti-German sentiment was high in Appleton after WWI. Appleton citizens distanced themselves from their heritage. In 1981, we remembered our heritage with our first Oktoberfest in 1981. 45 years later, it has become a favorite.

The DA Funding Study Committee I chair heard from Milwaukee’s DA & Deputy DA yesterday. Digital evidence has exploded. Staff keep leaving. Grant-funded prosecutors are limited. Cases sit. Criminals stay on the street.

We’re going to fix the formula so that DAs can charge more crimes.
