I know things have been a little quieter around here lately, especially when it comes to sharing the beautiful families and little ones I get to photograph… There’s a reason for that.

After the recent Seventh Circuit ruling involving AI-generated child SA material, a lot of families have started thinking more carefully about what they feel comfortable sharing online. The ruling dealt specifically with AI-generated images that did not involve real children, but it has still brought up some really hard conversations about children’s photos and how they could be misused. And I don’t blame anyone for feeling uneasy.

Some families have decided they don’t want their images shared at all. Some are okay with photos being posted but would rather their child’s face be covered. Some older kids are also choosing for themselves that they don’t want their photos online. I completely respect that. & As a mom, I understand it even more.

Having a son has changed the way I look at things. The thought of an innocent photo of a child being misused, altered, or turned into something harmful is terrifying. So if my page seems a little quieter, that’s why.

It’s not because I have fewer beautiful families to photograph. It’s not because I have a slow season or that I’m behind. It’s because I’m respecting the choices families are making when it comes to their children and their privacy.

My job is to document these memories. It’s not to make a parent feel like sharing a photo is more important than feeling safe. I will always choose the families who trust me and the boundaries they set over having a busy page. & honestly, I think that’s how it should be. 🩶

I love that Paul gifts a photo session to Amy every single year for Mother’s Day, and I love even more that he hires me for them. 🩶

Sometimes all you need is a push on the swings and your nanny 🤍 so happy that we we able to pull the strings to see my future mother in law & Rowen’s nanny in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 It was so beautiful seeing the woman who has most of the credit in raising the man by my side. 💞
