Storm Damage?
The first 4 steps to follow, if you think you have a claim due to weather.
1. Get a professional you trust to take a look, give you a quote and indicate if it is
more than your deductible so you can determine if you should file a claim.
2. Contact your agent to talk through the options for filing a claim, and if it is the
smartest option for you with what coverages and deductibles you have.
**keep in mind that filing a claim does create a premium surcharge for the next 3
to 5 years for every carrier.**
3. If you and your agent decide it is the best idea for your scenario to file a claim,
contact your carrier to start the claim process.
**Things you will need on this call are your policy #, date of
incident/damage/finding, and name and # of the contractor who confirmed your
concern**
4. Your insurance will give you a claim number, make sure to give that to your
contractor, as they may need it for billing.
