See y’all today at 5 PM at the Capitol. We need the masses to help us challenge state violence and avenge the suffering of Black people in this country, including Corey, Tony, and all victims of police brutality and murder.

And unfortunately, we do not pay protesters so you gotta just come of your own free will and love for Black people and Black freedom.

This Black August in Madison feels incredibly heavy and personal. It has been nearly two weeks since the Madison Police Department murdered Cory Ruiz on the same street they murdered Tony Robinson in 2015.

Black people deserve to be free, not fearing for their lives from the state, not being punished and pushed through the carceral system for fighting back.

Join us this week as we demand:
-Arrest the killer cop
-Defund the police
-Strengthen the Police Civilian Oversight Board (PCOB)
-MPD must hand over all evidence to the Office of the Independent Police Monitor
-And finally, community control over the police!

OUR ONLY ENEMY IS THE STATE

Every liberation movement eventually faces the same reality: when the state cannot crush a movement by force alone, it turns to disinformation.

Disinformation is the deliberate spread of false or misleading information to deceive people, manufacture doubt, and destroy trust. It is one of the oldest weapons used against liberation movements because divided people are easier to control than organized people.

From the Black freedom struggle in the United States to Puerto Rican independence movements, from Cuba and South Africa to the Khmer Issarak, and Hmong liberation struggles against the French, movements across the world have faced state repression, surveillance, propaganda, and attempts to create division from within.

During COINTELPRO, the FBI targeted Black liberation organizations, civil rights groups, anti-war organizers, Indigenous organizers, and Puerto Rican independence movements. They planted rumors, forged letters, used informants, spread misinformation, and created internal conflict because they understood something we should never forget: if they could get the people fighting each other, they would not have to fight us themselves.

Freedom, Inc. believes political education is a survival skill.

We study liberation struggles because we refuse to repeat history. We know not every disagreement is state repression, and not every criticism is an attack. Accountability makes movements stronger. Confusion and distrust make them weaker.

The tactics have changed, but the strategy remains the same: isolate people, manufacture distrust, reward division, and keep us fighting each other instead of the institutions killing our people.

We’re not falling for that.

Our only enemy is the state.

The state murders us in the street. The state occupies our neighborhoods through policing. The state separates families through deportation. The state abandons our communities while funding punishment over care. The state has always relied on violence, surveillance, and divide-and-conquer to preserve its power.

Our responsibility is to build political clarity, deepen our relationships, organize our communities, and build institutions that answer to the people instead of the state.

Community control is our response to a system that has shown it cannot and will not keep our people safe.

We know who benefits when movements are divided. And we know that no amount of disinformation can defeat a people who are politically educated, rooted in community, and committed to one another.

All Power to the People.
