It’s time to thin your peach trees! Removing every other fruit plus the little ones helps produce larger fruit and also helps to prevent branches from breaking. Her are some before and after pics from one mature tree in Monona.

Your trees, shrubs, and perennials still need water! New plants need one inch per week. It will be a good weekend to get out your hoses and give them a slow drink.

It was so nice to go back and see this front yard where I planted fruit trees and bushes 6 years ago. The homeowner added a lot of perennials and it looks beautiful!

Now is the time to order for spring planting! They will need sun, good soil, and protection from critters. I am coordinating a group order. Prices do not include tax and may go up or down by a few $ depending on the size of the order. Orders are due Dec. 5th.
Apples $18 each: Disease resistant, specify dwarf or semi-dwarf rootstock, 2 varieties needed for pollination, in order by ripening date: Pristine, Red Free, William’s Pride, Nova Mac, Crimson Crisp, Liberty, Nova Spy (semi-dwarf only), Winecrisp, Enterprise, Gold Rush.
Pears $20 each: 2 varieties needed for pollination, in order of ripening dates.
On standard rootstock (big trees): Sunrise, Harrow Delight, Bartlett, Seckle, Blake’s Pride, Potomac, Red Anjou, Harrow Sweet, Kieffer, Shenandoah, Bosc

Tart Cherries $20 each, self-fertile, in ripening order (all in July): Jubileum, Carmine Jewel, Montmorency, North Star, Balaton, Meteor.
Peaches $20 each, self-fertile, in ripening order: Harrow Diamond, Reliance, Wisconsin Balmer, Contender, PF 24C, Veteran, Madison, Encore. White Flesh Peaches, Leaf Curl Resistant: Polly.
Almond Seedlings $20 each: Selected Seedlings from Hall’s Hardy Almond. Self pollinating.
Chinese Chestnut, English Walnut $9.50 each. Need 2. Squirrels and chipmunks eat them!
Finger Lakes Abundant Hazelnut $12.50 each. Need 2. Squirrels and chipmunks love them!
Pawpaw Seedlings $12.50 each. Need to plant 2 or 3.
The plants will arrive sometime between April 10th and April 22nd. I can help with planting or you can pick them up at my house in south east Madison and plant them ideally within a week.
