Just a head's up that things will be a little quiet around here for a bit, as we are doing some restructuring in the Parallel Press offices--a.k.a. our student assistant (me) is graduating! :) If you need anything in the meantime, don't hesitate to email Lis Owens at [email protected]. Verse Wisconsin Celebration June 29, 1-4 p.m. Olbrich Gardens Verse Wisconsin published its last of 14 print & online issues in April 2014! (An anthology of prose from issues 100-114 is still forthcoming in the Fall.) While we've heard from some that you're sad to see it end, we're grateful to poets & supporters to have been able to produce this independent, hybrid magazine for 5 years, and we'd like to celebrate with you!

We are pleased to announce that Tom Erickson's poetry chapbook, The Lawyer Who Died in The Courthouse Bathroom (Parallel Press, 2013), received second place in the 2014 Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets Chapbook Contest for chapbooks by Wisconsin authors published in 2013. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Tom!

Best of luck to Caroline Collins who will be doing a reading and signing at an art gallery at the Center for Art and Rehabilitative Energies in Shellman, Georgia. Way to spread the healing power of poetry!

"Farewell, National Poetry Month!" (But not really, because EVERY month is Poetry Month in our book). Caroline Collins, we hope you don't mind that we shared this nice photo of you lovingly showing off your poetry chapbook, Presences. :)

It's almost the end of April, but it's not too late to celebrate National Poetry Month! How about stopping by the Parallel Press poetry display on the 2nd floor of Memorial Library? (And on your way in, you can play with some of the magnetic poetry in the entrance!)

This Sunday, Parallel Press author Maxine Silverman will be reading from her poetry chapbook, Transport of the Aim, a garland of poems on the lives of Emily Dickinson, Thomas Wentworth Higginson and Celia Thaxter. The reading will be 1:30-3:30pm on Sunday April 27th as part of the "Sundays at the J with George and Friends" in Tarrytown, NY. We'll be thinking of you, Maxine!

Good vibes going out to Caroline Collins today as she'll be doing her first reading/signing tonight at Andrew College's Pitts Library for her poetry chapbook, Presences. Best of luck, Caroline!
