Last fall a teacher reached out to me because one of her students said they were interested in becoming a chef. She asked if I wanted to speak in their classroom's Podium Series this year, so I could share about what it's like to be a personal chef. I couldn't say no to that!
So last week I got to join an awesome 5th grade class over at Kromrey Middle School and talk not only about being a chef, but about the endless possibilities, freedom + fun of being an entrepreneur. The kiddos asked great questions and we all had a ball making monster energy bites.
I'd say it went well, I got asked for my autograph a couple of times before leaving 😄 Can't wait to come back next year!

I'm missing caprese salads lately. They were a staple in my diet in the warmer months last year because I had a basil plant at home and tomatoes were SO plentiful in my CSA delivery. Just add mozzarella pearls & balsamic glaze and we're in business!
Thankfully spring will be here before we know it and that means we're closer to more fresh produce from my CSA 🙌

Anyone's new years intentions involve healthier eating? Fun fact: mine do! Yep, even though I can cook all the delicious, healthy foods, I still have a sweet tooth that I've gotta keep in check.
For those with healthier eating intentions, how are those going? I'm here to cheer you on because I KNOW the struggle all too well. I know it's not easy, but damn is it worth it!
And if your intentions aren't quite going how you'd hoped, don't get down on yourself. We've all gotta start somewhere. If you're not sure where to start with healthier eating, I can help you.

Check out these perfectly snacky sweet potato chips. Not sure how I've never made them before today, but I'll tell ya one thing, there's a lot more of them in my future.

This week's newsletter linked to an article that stated this- "According to the American Psychiatric Association's annual poll, 40 percent of Americans report feeling more anxious in 2018 than they did in 2017, which saw a 36 percent increase over 2016."
So we're in a time when people are needing to develop (necessary) self-care practices and guess what? Baking might be the answer. Of course, it's not for everyone, but baking can be soothing as hell.
The article referenced these salted chocolate-chunk shortbread cookies (they were crazy popular last holiday season- search ) and they just so happened to be my holiday cookie this year and it just felt like a nice, full circle moment.
Moral of the story, *find joyful ways to relax*. Do you like to bake? If you do, do you bake for pleasure or when you're stressed or both? I'm curious to know.
