Jesus is not saying that we can’t think about our memories and breakthroughs. In fact, dwelling over our accomplishments and trials helps and encourages us to see the things we have overcome, and where the Lord is taking us. He is saying that living in the past or a yearning desire for something or someone in your past is not fit for the kingdom. To be more specific a marriage He removed you from or a career. Anything He purposely removed with the intent to replace with something greater.

A lot of things we struggle with in our lives on the outside are stems of what we struggle with on the inside. The lack of faith that God is working through us can keep us stagnant as well. A low viewing of self is just as detrimental as not having enough of faith in God. How? If you don’t believe you are capable, how can you do what God has called you to do? God created us in His image. Everything He makes is good. So if we believe that in our hearts our confidence will outshine our insecurities. If we feel confident about ourselves and our relationship with God our life would reflect it.
