Giving back is core to who we are at Yahara. Here's what we've been up to lately:
🎓 At Memorial High School's job fair, talking to students about what a career in software actually looks like. We love to help inspire the next generation to get involved in computer science!
🌱 At the Forward Garden with the Madison Area Food Pantry Garden, getting their hands in the dirt planting food that goes directly to families in Madison who need it.

At Yahara Software, our goal is to make the world a better place. That includes giving the next generation of developers the mentorship, perspective, and hands-on exposure that can shape the trajectory of a career. That's why we recently welcomed a group of students for a job shadow experience! They spent time with our team, asked great questions, and got a real look at what it means to build software that matters.

We're thrilled to welcome Zeke Witter to the Yahara team! Zeke brings experience as a front end engineer, full stack engineer, tech lead, and more, and is passionate about applying that expertise to projects that make a real difference. Outside of work, he's an avid ultimate frisbee player and coaches the Madison U20 boys' ultimate frisbee team.

Here's what happens when our CTO starts playing around in Gemini. Have you guys met our mascot, Wauby? Wauby is a river otter named after Lake Waubesa, one of the four major lakes in Dane County where Yahara Software is located. Happy Friday, everyone! Have a great weekend.

At Yahara, Pi Day is a big deal. This year, we had 11 pies entered into our company-wide Pi Day contest! The big winners were key lime, Dubai chocolate, a ruffled milk pie with raspberries, and everyone in the office who got to eat pie.

We just got back from SLAS — and there was a lot to unpack. This year, a few clear themes stood out. Here are six trends we’re watching closely:

🔬 Custom hardware is outpacing custom software — and integration is becoming a growing challenge for smaller labs.
🧬 Advances in instrumentation are accelerating research in personalized medicine, single-cell therapies, and DNA synthesis.
💰 Organizations are quick to invest in hardware and consumables — but software is still often treated as a one-time expense.
⚡ Technology adoption cycles are speeding up, forcing labs to decide: build now, or wait for what’s next?
🏭 Not every efficient lab is chasing flashy new tools — strong processes still win.
🔐 Rapid tech adoption isn’t always matched with long-term thinking around scalability and DevSecOps.
