You can contact these lines to connect with a trained peer support specialist who has lived experience with life circumstances such as mental health or substance use challenges. Please note that I do not have personal experience with all of these resources, but will try to answer questions to the best of my ability.

Hey ART VENDORS (and everyone else), do you have extra supplies you can donate at Williamson & Baldwin? I know I found a tent and table I could part with. And/or: please come down and hang out. Community members have been occupying the site since the police murder occurred on Thursday, and solidarity in the form of your presence is very much needed.

Disability Pride Madison

Please care for yourselves and your community whichever way feels most important. I never want to center myself in such a horrific event. However, I do want to highlight the work of Disability Pride Madison, an organization that is important to me and that fosters vital community and solidarity. Madison’s Disability Pride Festival will be held this Saturday, July 25, and provides space to move toward a future without racism and state-sanctioned brutality.

A statement from Disability Pride Madison:

“Disability Pride Madison is a liberation-based organization that benefits deeply from the gains made by the disability justice movement, a movement led by those most impacted by anti-Black police violence. We remain in solidarity with those protesting and grieving the murder of Corey Ruiz, and we hope to offer a space for disabled people to connect in grief and protest.
At the festival we will have informational materials on disability and policing as well as materials on disability access in protest spaces. We will have remarks from speakers as well as a dedicated processing space. There will also be free food for our community if you need to stop and fuel to continue the fight.
If there are other asks from the community in terms of how we can best show up, please don’t hesitate to contact us!”
