While watching some videos recently, I came across one I feel compelled to share. Back in April, I had the special opportunity to bring my daughters to work for Bring Your Kids to Work Day. During their visit, my awesome coworkers at the Office of the Secretary, DHS, recorded clips capturing our kids’ thoughts on what it’s like seeing their parents at work for the State and what they think we do at work.
This video melts my heart and reminds me of the incredible balance so many of us strive to maintain while serving our community with hard work and dedication while also raising the next generation.
To all the working parents out there: Your efforts, both at work and at home, are shaping a brighter future. These kids are watching, learning, and dreaming. I remain hopeful for the future.

This morning my 4 year old and I got up bright and early to meet Jimmy, the groundhog! He was cute as heck and we had an amazing time!

Developing affordable housing was one of my top priorities during my time as an alder person. This 265 unit housing project is a good example of community engagement and how their input makes the design of the project more sustainable 🫶🏽👏

Had an amazing time meeting with friends and former council colleagues celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr at the State Capitol yesterday.
One of his inspiring quotes which I have always loved is, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Congratulations to my friends Jerreh Kujabi and Batch Samba for opening Gooh Grocery on East Washington! Such a variety of fresh foods and groceries. Beautiful store!
This area was previously designated as a food desert with limited access to affordable and nutritious food. This new grocery store provides much needed support to surrounding communities as well as offering African American products that are otherwise hard to find.

Last Saturday, we had a great time supporting the Optimist Club at their pancake breakfast fundraiser at the Colonial Club. The high school orchestra played beautifully, and we all got to meet Santa. And then, what a surprise to see Holly and Joffe in the Sun Prairie Star Newspaper! Colonial Club Senior Center

Earlier this week was the groundbreaking for the Public Market at the First North Street location.
I am extremely happy to see this project coming to fruition!
As the former alder of the district, we - so many of you and I - worked really hard to advocate for our local, small businesses who will benefit from this. The Public Market will unlock many opportunities for small vendors and be a wonderful place for the community to gather.
Thanks to all the community members and stakeholders who worked hard to bring this project to reality. We did it!!
