Cultivating equity in the performing arts.

Our mission is to provide students from historically excluded communities access to performing arts events and theater technology training: the seeds from which participation in the arts grow.

Gratitude for everyone who helped make this incredible afternoon happen, including Marilyn Ruffin, at One City Schools, Anna Gonzalez, Patty Heaston, Joshua Castille, Jose Cervantes, Sun Mee Chomet, Jacob Alexander Craig, Maggie Cramer, Casey Hoekstra, Ray Huth, Elizabeth Ledo, Jim Ridge among others, as well as the community engagement, front of house, and box office staff at American Players Theatre.

A special thanks to Samantha Newcomb and Sam Luis Massaro who so generously shared their time with us.

Transformative events like this could not be possible without the generous support of our donors, to whom we’re incredibly grateful.

Please reach out if you’re interested in helping Seeding Equity do more of this meaningful work, or donate today. No amount is too small. https://www.mightycause.com/story/Seedingequity

A fabulous Madison tradition. And it’s FREE!

But you should still donate to Madison Opera to support this event.

Opera in the Park is just one week away! We partnered with Overture Center for the Arts to share 10 reasons why you should attend this extraordinary concert on July 19. Read the article here: https://www.overture.org/blog/2025-july-opera-in-the-park/

Seeding Equity is looking to partner with one or more community groups or schools to provide underrepresented students with an opportunity to see a matinee performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at American Players Theatre, in Spring Green, on Sat. August 30, 2025. We’ll also have the opportunity to stay afterwards and watch the tech crew change over the scenery before that evening’s performance of “Picnic.”

Seeding Equity will cover the cost of the 30 tickets we currently have reserved.

Please re-post and pass this along to anyone you think might be interested. Thank you!
