Save the Date for our Spring Orchestra Concert! This concert will feature the two winners of the VPM Concerto Competition.

The Concert Orchestra had a fun day last week watching the Madison Symphony Orchestra perform as well as visiting the Wisconsin Veterans Museum and the Chazen Art Museum.

Spring Pops Concert!

For Music In Our Schools Month®, we are honored to highlight educators who inspire, lead, and grow the next generation of musicians. Today we celebrate Lisa Schrock, orchestra director at Vel Phillips Memorial High School and Ezekiel Gillespie Middle School in the Madison Metropolitan School District, nominated by our Heid Music Madison Education Account Manager, Becca. In just five years, Lisa grew the high school orchestra program from 19 to 120 students through intentional community building and expanded opportunities. She founded an orchestra booster group, brought in guest artists and sectional coaches, collaborated with the band for full orchestra experiences, and created a concerto competition to feature student soloists. Her program is known for its strong student community. Lisa’s ensembles learn, laugh, and take ownership of their music, from choosing repertoire to planning their Spring Pops Concert. With 13 years of teaching experience and a background spanning violin, piano, percussion, saxophone, and voice, Lisa exemplifies the power of passionate music education.
